History

The Beginning

In late 2000, an 18 year old Craig Halpin wanted to start up a small limousine business. Having £3000 in savings, Craig didn’t get off to a good start as the cheapest limousine that he was offered to purchase would cost him £5000, meaning he was already £2000 short. Craig’s dream of becoming a chauffeur was looking slim. One night while watching the news about the stock market, he thought up of an idea of selling stakes in his company in the form of shares. He set up a website that now has been discontinued, called SharelineUK. He hoped this site would bring in potential investors in his new business. Over a month had past and no investors had invested in his idea. A frustrated Craig took up a job as a trainee accountant at a local accountant. Nearly giving up, he thought his last chance would be to simply knock from house to house, with some leaflets presenting his idea and word of month explaining what he intends to do. His aim from the start was to sell one share for £25 each with the aim of selling 100 shares. Within two weeks he had collected £25 from 122 members, totalling in £3050. Together with Craig’s investment of £3000, he bought his first limousine. Members now shareholders, decided and voted on marketing, employment, new vehicles, new investments and eventually the sale of the company just over 3 years later.

First Investment

Along with his shareholders, Craig voted on the name of the Limousine company. The winning name of the vote, was 'Style'. With the slogan, 'Arrive in Style' the company bought a number of vehicles that drove people all around the United Kindgom. After a little over 3 years, 'Style' was sold to a large taxi firm. The sale for again voted upon by the shareholders.

hareholders

Shareholders are the people who have put their money into the new business. The shareholders are given the right to vote on a number of things, which include...

* more

Before any new business, Niplah (Parent Company) sets out the mark required for investment. With reference to 'Style' Niplah sold 100 shares worth £25 each. The amount of shares sold and the amount their aee worth change depending on the business type.

Community

Niplah purchased a post office which was to be closed, Craig did not offer any shares in this buy as he said that this buy was to give something back into the community, as the loss of this post office would have meant a village of a population of less than 1000 people would have to travel to the next town to the nearest post office. In a community of mainly retired people, this would have been a struggle.

Charity

Regular donations to NHS Ysbyty Gwynedd, and fundraising events have helped to purchase a new scanner for the Alaw Cancer Unit and Ty Enfys. Welsh Air Ambulance is another favourite that Niplah donate on a yearly term.
