website = [http://www.ubuntu-eee.com/ www.ubuntu-eee.com]Ubuntu-Eee is an
operating system for theAsus Eee PC (anetbook computer). It's based on Ubuntu, but is not an official project byCanonical Ltd. Ubuntu-Eee is an independent project to create a distribution based on Ubuntu optimized to run on the
Asus Eee PC netbook. It's an operating system, using the Netbook Remix interface, which favors well known closed source software instead of open source alternatives (ie.Skype instead ofEkiga ) when the functionality offered seems better.The project seems to be not-for-profit, under a GNU GPL2 license [https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-eee] , although donations are encouraged [http://www.ubuntu-eee.com/wiki/index.php5?title=Ubuntu_Eee:Site_support] .
Trademark issues
On September 10th, Canonical emailed Jon Ramvi, the main developer of the project, complaining the project's use of Canonical's names, URLs, and logos violates Canonical's trademarks. [ [http://www.jonramvi.com/mail-from-canonical/ Mail from Canonical] ] The owners of the project have not yet announced a new name.
