The 2009 Tri Nations Series is the fourteenth annual Tri Nations competition between the national rugby union teams of New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. The All Blacks won the Tri Nations 2008 Series on 13 September 2008 after defeating Australia, 28 - 24, in the last match of the series.

Background

South Africa, New Zealand and Australia will be ranked first, second, and third in the world respectively by the International Rugby Board (IRB) immediately before the start of the Tri Nations on 30 June 2009. It will be announced when the first match will be played.
