- Kanakides
Kanakides is a small deserted village on the east coast of Aegina Island in
Greece . The village was named after the family (Kanakis) that once lived there. It was probably established sometime in theMiddle Ages . The geographical location was chosen in order to avoid pirate raids since it can not be seen from the sea.Fact|date=September 2008 The last inhabitants moved out in the 1970s. Today all that remains are the ruins of a few stone houses. The village can be reached by either foot or car, and offers spectacular views of the east side of the island.External links
