Jacqueline Wilson , DBE, a noted English author who writes fiction for children. It was first published in 1997 and is aimed at teenage readers. The other books in the series are "Girls under Pressure " (1998), "Girls Out Late" (1999), and "Girls In Tears" (2002).Plot
Like the rest of the series, "Girls In Love" is told from the viewpoint of Eleanor "Ellie" Allard, a chubby thirteen-year-old girl who lives with her father (simply known in the story as "Dad"- his real name is not given), her stepmother Anna and her little half-brother Eggs.
In this first book, Ellie is starting Year Nine. We meet her two close friends, Magda and Nadine, who will also feature in the rest of the series. The focus of the book is the boyfriend troubles experienced by the three girls. Ellie lies to Nadine and Magda, pretending that a friend she met on holiday is a dashing boyfriend, Nadine goes out with Liam who is in Year Eleven and wants her to do things she is not ready for, and Magda is good with boys but goes out with Greg who is nice but boring. As well as this focus on boyfriends, however, the book also deals with the issue of growing up with a stepmother.
TV Drama Series
