The permanent and temporary exhibitions portray culture, history, traditions and modern life in the Arctic regions. Visitors can find out about the livelihoods of the Northern peoples and animal life in the Arctic, or travel through history far back to ancient times through to the recent past.

Exhibitions

The exhibitions at the Provincial Museum of Lapland and the Arctic Center lead you on a journey to the past, and examine life today from the northern dimension. Human life in tune with nature, surrounded by the almost perpetual winter, snow and ice has given rise to many fates. The stories of the peoples of the Arctic regions, their means for survival and the rich cultural heritage they have created is safely stored in the Arktikum's halls for all to see.

Conferences

The Arktikum provides special setting for meetings and conferences. The glass-roofed foyer has room for up to 700 people – under the dazzling light show of the Arctic Circle skies.

It is a short journey from the banks of the Ounasjoki river to the stories and atmosphere of the Arctic.
