Camille Barbone was Madonna's first manager. She was the head of
Gotham Management . She has over 23 years of entertainment experience, overseeing the releases of many superstar artists such asGrace Jones ,Bee Gees , andGladys Knight during her tenure at labels such asColumbia/Epic ,Phonogram/Mercury , and Buddah. Later, as the founder ofAugust Artists Management , she discovered, developed, managed, presented and signed a "new" artist we now know as Madonna. Ms. Barbone has continued to manage and develop new acts such asClark Brown -- the lead singer ofG/Z/R (Geezer Butler ofBlack Sabbath ) -- andBirdbrain (all onTVT Records ).Studios she owned and operated included Gotham Sound and Long View Farms, the recording homes of artists from
Buster Poindexter ,The Monkees , andMelba Moore toThe Rolling Stones ,Michael Bolton , andAerosmith . Ms. Barbone has produced many corporate-sponsored concert events including the Gospel segment ofWoodstock '94 .
