Twenty4 seven

Twenty4 seven

Twenty4 Seven, the doomed Channel 4 teen show which was being put into production throughout 2006 and 2007 in order to replace the classic Channel 4 line up in an attempt to bring the younger audience in and air before The Simpsons and Hollyoaks, revolved around the lives of a large family in Yorkshire, who all lived above a cafe that their deceased mother left to them. The original idea would be that the family would have to work together in order to run a business. Characters included mainly male roles, with friends to the family being predominantly female.

Although most of the casting was completed and some roles awarded, Channel 4 ultimately rejected the pilot episode after the idea of Skins was pitched. Nicholas Hault landed the position of the main character in Twenty4 Seven, and after auditioning again for Skins which was aimed at an older audience than Twenty4 Seven he was awarded the part of Tony. The role for Twenty4 Seven was awarded to the next actor in line in the auditions.

Based in the Leeds area, the writers wanted to portray a hip and more fashionable side to the city. The television show would have included a teenager's non-alcoholic bar, a youth club and a library, features which could have been built for the public but however were planned to be based upon indoor sets.

Rumour had it that Neil Morrisey was going to play the father of the family, however, since the show was never put into any production his role was not secured.
