CEV Leser

Dr. Conrad Emanuel Victor Leser was an German econometrician who lived from 1915 to 1998. He was born in Heidelberg. He studied in Switzerland and later at the London School of Economics after being forced to leave Germany because of his non-Aryan status. He held posts at Manchester University, in Canberra and the Economic and Social Research Institute in Dublin before becoming the first Professor of Econometrics at Leeds University in 1968. CEV Leser is best known for his work on the Engel curve. [CEV Leser (1963), Forms of Engel Functions, Econometrica, 31 (4), 694-703.] He also proposed the Hodrick-Prescott Filter. [Leser, C. E.
