Nav Rattan

Name of an award (Hindi: "Nine Jewels", also transliterated as "Nav Ratan", "Navratan", "Navrattan" etc.) given yearly to nine members of the worldwide Indian diaspora by the [http://www.nriol.com/community/orgs/nriwelfare.html NRI Welfare Society of India] , at a ceremony in connection with the yearly "International Congress of Non Resident Indians" (held since 1982) on and around the Indian Republic Day (January 26) in New Delhi. The award is named after the Navaratnas. Awardees are usually persons who have already received the "Hind Rattan" award; please see this article for further details.
