[http://www.vertex.com Vertex Software Corporation] is an Austin, Texas (USA) company specializing in Web-based software solutions for business customers. Its current and past clients include Dell Inc., Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt, Yahoo Broadcast, Biophysical, Whole Security, Silicon Labs, Best Buy for Business, and many others.

] and began offering Web application development in May, 1996. Vertex's founder, David Macdonald, had previous co-founded two different shrinkwrap software companies, Styleware Inc. in 1985, and Arion Software Corporation in 1991.

In addition to its custom development services, Vertex offers customers its Content Management System (CMS), Site Press®, a Web-based WYSIWYG application that allows novice and intermediate users to edit and manage their own Web sites and ecommerce applications.

Vertex also developed the premier driver safety training application on the Web, [http://www.defensivedriving.com/ DefensiveDriving.com] , which was sold to Houston-based Defensive Driver Online, Ltd. in 1999.

Vertex is consistently listed among the top software and Web developers in Austin by the Austin Business Journal (published by American City Business Journals).

Vertex has won numerous awards for its work, including a Silver Award from the International Davey Awards [cite web
