Xi'an Aircraft Industry Company Ltd under AVIC I is the manufacturer of this airplane.
Xi'an Aircraft Industry rolled out its first MA600 turboprop on the 29th of June, 2008. This is an improved version of the MA60. The MA60 was developed from the Antonov An-26.
The MA600 is expected to enter service in 2009.
According to many sources, the MA stands for Modern Ark. [ [http://english.cri.cn/4026/2008/06/30/1901s374861.htm "Modern Ark 600 and other info"] ] According to the same site, Liu Jieyin President of the carrier OK Air is quoted as saying that his company had purchased the new model.
The aircraft will be/ is powered by Pratt and Whitney PW-127J turboprop engines.
It has a 60 pax capacity.
