Rudolph Karl Alexander Schneider, commonly known as Sascha Schneider (21 September 1870 – 1927), was a German painter.

Schneider was born in
Saint Petersburg . During his childhood his family went in 1881 toZürich . After the death of his father Schneider lived inDresden , where he was student at the Kreuzgymnasium. He studied since 1889 art at "Dresdner Kunstakademie". 1903 he metKarl May . He became painter and illustrator of Karl May first books (for example "Durch die Wüste", "Durchs wilde Kurdistan", "Am Rio de la Plata"). In 1904 Schneider becameprofessor at "Großherzoglich-Sächsische Kunstschule Weimar". InWeimar he lived together with the painterHellmuth Jahn . [Bernd-Ulrich Hergemöller , "Mann für Mann", pages 636, 637 ] Jahn started extortion by§ 175 . Schneider fleed toItaly , where at that timehomosexuality was legal. In Italy Schneider met painterRobert Spies . Together they made a journey through theCaucasus Mountains . He then traveled back to Germany and lived for six months in Leipzig and then he went back to Italy, Florence. When the First World War started Schneider traveled again back to Germany and after 1914 during war Schneider lived inHellerau , nearLeipzig . Swinemünde . He had aDiabetes mellitus collapse on a seatour in the havre of Swinemünde. He got thirsty and drank poisened water. He was buried on the cementary inLoschwitz , Germany.Works
