Contents

Aim

The aim of the GRS is to encourage interest in all aspects of German railways and, to a lesser extent, Austrian railways[1].

Scope

The Society welcomes all interests, prototype enthusiasts and modellers irrespective of scale and make of model railway. It is a national society with just two local groups that hold meetings in many areas of Britain. The Society organises the European Model Railway Exhibition held annually in September at Sutton Coldfield. In addition to some layouts there is good representation from the trade as well as some other European railway societies.

Merkur

The Society produces a quarterly members' journal called Merkur with articles on prototype and modelling subjects as well as information about the Society, exhibitions, current events in the model trade, recent and future events on the prototype scene. It is 56 A5 pages long in both colour and black and white, printed on glossy paper with numerous photographs. It covers all Epochs with articles on Steam, Diesel and Electric traction[2].

Library

The Society has a large library of books and videos available to its members.
