trinomial_authority = Trapido, 1944The Northern Redbelly Snake (Storeria occipitomaculata occipitomaculata) is a non-venomous snake in the Storeria family, subspecies Storeria occipitomaculata occipitomaculata. Adult and young can be olive-brown, tan-brown, chestnut-brown, grey-brown, grey or even black. However, the colour is usually made up of three different shades that form a striped pattern. Newborn young measure anywhere from 7.6 - 11 cm whereas adults grow to about 19 - 31 centimeters. They feed primarily on slugs and earthworms. They can be found in moist flowerbeds, gardens, and moist woodlands, from Saskatchewan to Nova Scotia, south to Florida and Texas.
