Typhoon Angela (also known as Super Typhoon Angela or Typhoon Rosing in the Philippines) was a very powerful Category 5 typhoon with a minimum central pressure reading of 872 millibars and 180 mph sustained winds, possibly one of five Pacific storms tied for the second most intense tropical cyclone on record but it is still disputed.

Angela caused 9.33 billion Philippine Pesos (1995 pesos) in damage across the Philippines, resulting in 882 fatalities. [Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration. torm history

The monsoon trough that developed Yvette and Zach spawned another tropical depression on October 20. It moved to the west, organizing very slowly to become a tropical storm on the 26th. 2 days later Angela became a typhoon, and from the 31st to the 1st Angela rapidly intensified to a convert|185|mph|km/h|abbr=on|lk=off super typhoon. It maintained that intensity as it moved westward, hitting the Philippines on the 2nd as a slightly weaker convert|160|mph|km/h|abbr=on|lk=off storm. Angela continued to the west-northwest, where upper level winds caused it to dissipate on the 7th over the Gulf of Tonkin.

Impact

More than 900 people are perished due to the typhoon and it wreak havoc over the NCR, Calabarzon Region and Bicol Region. Initially it causes 9.33 Billion pesos of damage, but later on it grew into 10.829 Billion pesos [Typhoon2000.com,::11 Worst Typhoons in the Philippines. [http://www.typhoon2000.ph/stats/11WorstPhilippineTyphoons.htm] Retrieved on 2007-02-04.] .

trength Records

Angela's 872 mbar pressure reading makes it the second most intense tropical cyclone on record worldwide, tied with Gay of 1992 and Ivan, Joan, and Keith of 1997, and behind Typhoon Tip of 1979 but it is disputed. Instead the more acceptable is the pressure reading of 879 mbar.

On a weather observatory on Catanduanes reported winds of 260 kph. Making it the third strongest Typhoon to hit Philippines. [Typhoon2000.com,::20 Strongest Typhoons in the Philippines. [http://www.typhoon2000.ph/stats/StrongestPhilippineTyphoons.htm] Retrieved on 2007-02-04.]

Retirement

Because of Rosing's death toll and damages in the Philippines, the name Rosing was retired by PAGASA.
