East Catholic High School has won 32 state championships since 1965, with baseball titles coming in 1996 and 1997.Fact|date=February 2007 Andy Baylock, the retired head coach of the
University of Connecticut baseball team, was the head football coach for this high school 1962–1964. In 1998 he was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.
