Unicon (British science fiction convention)

This article is about the science fiction convention in Britain. For the science fiction convention in Maryland, see Unicon (Maryland science fiction convention).

Unicon is a series of British university-based science fiction conventions, launched as a one-off event - Unicon 80 - at Keele University in 1980. Following two follow-up events at the same venue (Unicon 2, 1981; Unicon 3, 1982), the series was opened up to outside groups. The first of this new series, Unicon 4, was held in the University of Essex at Colchester in 1983.

The most recent was named Recombination and held in New Hall, Cambridge in August 2007. The next Unicon is Mecon at Queen's University, Belfast in August 2008.
