Grouping of Rural and Independent Chadians

Grouping of Rural and Independent Chadians

Grouping of Rural and Independent Chadians ( _fr. Groupement des independants et ruraux tchadien) was a political party in Chad. The party was founded in 1956, when the Gountchomé Sahoulba-led faction broke away from the Chadian Social Action. The party mainly represented interests of traditional chiefs from southern Chad.Decalo, Samuel. The party was in alliance with the Chadian Progressive Party (PPT), but broke this alliance and joined the Chadian Socialist Union, a bloc of anti-PPT parties. Later this group evolved into the African National Party. The erstwhile GIRT leader Djibrine Kerallah became the vice chair of the African National Party. [Kidane Mengisteab, and Cyril K. Daddieh.
