Dean Dowling is a fictional character on the Irish soap opera Fair City.

torylines

Dean arrived in Carrigstown in 1996 as the son of Leo Dowling. He became close to his step mother, Sandie. He discovered that his father was having an affair with Niamh Cassidy and told Sandie who was devastated. She got drunk and ended up sleeping with Dean. Sandie became pregnant and left Carrigstown as she was uncertain of the baby's paternity. Leo was shocked when he discovered Dean slept with Sandie. Dean left also and went to be with Sandie.

Dean returned ten years later in 2008 when Leo was being convicted of the murder of his 4th wife, Lana. Dean revealed that he had taken a paternity test that revealed that he wasn't the father of Sandie's baby, Shannon which made Leo her biological father. Dean then took a job as a chef in the Bistro and became attracted to Heather Daly. Although he was disgusted when he found out that she was married and just using him.

On August 14, Dean's brother Troy returned to Carrigstown.
