] . The site is currently owned by CNET Networks (Now CBS Interactive). Help.com is very similar to Yahoo's website Answers.com.

Besides having posts to have users reply to there is also a chatroom on the site for users to talk live with other users of the site.

Due to Help.com's current size, it is not yet considered an official brand of CNET Networks until certain criteria is met.

History

] by CNET Networks and sat as a placeholder to CNET.com until early 2006 when the first beta version of Help.com went live developed by Jeff Minard (also the site developer of Battlefield Heroes and BF2s.com). During the course of 2006 the site went through several redesigns and settled in Beta 2 in late 2006. The design of beta 2 is the same design on the site today.

Posts

Posts are the main way for users to get help on the site. By posting it will show up on the main page for a short period of time and can be searched for and tagged for users to reply to. The site also has an anonymous features for users who wish not to reveal themselves when posting or replying on the site. Posts can also contain polls for users to participate in.

Chatroom

Another popular feature on the site is the ability to use the chatroom for live help from various users of the site at any time of day. Although it is required to register to talk in the chat, it is not required to register to view it.

Profiles

Users are allowed to create profiles to express some common information that they may choose to show. The profiles also show some statistics about the user and some of their recent posts and replies. Users can also become friends with other users and invite them to discussions on the site that they may find interest in.

Tags

The site also uses a tags system to categorize posts and to help users find posts in their interest set to reply to. This system makes it easier to help users who post about common topics you know most about.
