Алишев Габдуллазян Габдулбариевич, Alishev Gabdullazyan Gabdulbarievich), better known as Abdulla Aliş (IPA2|ʌbduˈla aˈliʃ;Cyrillic : Абдулла Алиш, also anglicizated as Abdulla Alish) (15 September 1908 ,Kayuki ,Spassky Uyezd ,Kazan Governorate ,Russian Empire -25 August 1944 ,Berlin ,Germany ) was aSoviet Tatar poet, playwright, writer and resistance fighter. He wrote mostly novels for children, the most notable writings being: "Dulqınnar" ("The Waves", 1934), "Ant" ("The Oath", 1935), "Minem abí" ("My Brother", 1940), as well as fairy-tales, collected to "Ana äkiätläre" ("Mother’s Fairy-Tales", 1941). He also wrote several pieces for puppet-shows, the most notable "Sertotmas ürdäk" ("The Blabbing Duck").In his early ages Aliş worked in melioration in
Menzelinsk and construction ofelectric power station on the banks of theQaban Lakes , combining this job with novels writing. Since 1933 he was a professional journalist, working as executive secretary in "Pioner kələme", youth magazine. In 1941 he was appointed Chief Editor of Tatar Radio Committee.In 1941 he joined the
Red Army to fight inWWII . That year Aliş was taken prisoner byWehrmacht nearBryansk . He metMusa Cälil here, and they both entered theIdel-Ural Legion . In prison they formed underground anti-Nazi resistance group and were guillotined inPlötzensee after their group was revealed.References
