Gleb Verhovskiy (1888-1935) was an
Russian Orthodox converted toCatholicism ofByzantine Rite. A former student of arts inSaint Petersburg Verhovskiy converted toCatholicism in 1909 . Verhovskiy was ordainedCatholic priest in 1914 inIstanbul and after that exercised his pastoral ministry for Russian Catholics in Saint Petersburg. Verhovskiy was a member of the first Russian Catholic synod in 1917 whenLeonid Fyodorov was elected Russian CatholicExarch . After 1920 Father Verhovskiy emigrated and in 1922 came back to Istanbul for preaching however his defense of the Byzantine rite traditions and rite in disputes withJesuits was responsable by his departure of Istanbul. In 1926 , Gleb Verhovskiy left the Russian apostolate for a ministry amongUkrainian immigrants in theUnited States . Verhovskiy passed away in 1932 .http://vselenstvo.narod.ru/library/histdest.htm
