- Post-Echo Generation
The Post-Echo generation is a subgeneration (spanning approximately 1991-2000) that combines the youngest members of
Generation Y and the oldest members ofGeneration Z . [ [http://decadeology.wetpaint.com/page/Post-Echo+Generation] ] Born totally into a digital world, someone born in 1995 would have been born the time theInternet became mainstream, had acell phone before their teens and possibly even aMySpace account before they turned 10.The Post-Echo generation is the main market of
Disney pop from the late 2000s, including theJonas Brothers andMiley Cyrus , who themselves are either Post-Echo or just slightly older. This generation has at best a vague memory of the 20th century, with only the oldest ones being able to remember the
New Millennium , setting them apart from theGeneration Y ers born in the 1980s and early 1990s.Generation Y characteristics
Though some Y "purists" born in the 1980s may want to class this subset with those born after 2000 because of their lack of 1990s experience and pre-digital technology, they also share a lot in common with older Yers.
Generation Z characteristics
The Post-Echo boom has similarities with those born before 1992, but also differences, mostly from their world view in their lifetime. Someone born in 1995 would live with
9/11 and theIraq War as facts of life, as the events happened/started when they were 6 and 8, respectively. They also grew up on different TV programming - while 1980s born Yers grew up with classic
Nickelodeon in the 1990s, Generation Z mostly watchesDisney Channel and more current Nick fare such asSpongebob Squarepants , iconic among this age group.See also
