Upper Mississippian culture (sometimes referred to in the plural)is the archaeological designation for certain late prehistoric native American cultural manifestations in the Mid-West of the United states. Included are the Oneota culture (or tradition) that flourished in the area around Lake Michigan, over into Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri, and, in parts of Indiana and Ohio, the Fort Ancient culture.
