American Idol is an American talentreality television series first aired in 2002, and as of October 2008, there have been seven seasons. During every season, the final round of competition featured twelve singers.ref|Ten A total of 106 contestants have reached the top twelve (or ten) of their seasons. Finalists for the show have never been younger than 16 years of age, or older than 29 years of age. Out of the 106 contestants listed, 21 of them were under the age of 20, including two winners and two runners-up.
