John P Herety (b. 2 March 1958, Cheadle, England) is an English racing cyclist. He is manager of Rapha Condor recycling.co.uk. Biography

Herety joined Cheshire Road Club as a teenager, [cite web| url=http://www.protournews.com/news/article/mps/uan/379| title=John Herety Bio| publisher=Protournews.com| accessdate=2008-09-12] . His first win was in a Scouts' cyclo- cross race in Woodbank Park, Stockport.cite web| url=http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tony-lyons/Cyclists/HeretyJ.htm| title=Name: John Herety| publisher=Stockport CC| accessdate=2008-09-12] Further success followed as a junior. He came third in the in 1980 professional road race national championship and won the Manx Trophy. Herety, a chef, received a set of chef's knives when he won a stage of the Peace Race in a town proud of its steelworks. Herety finished 21st in the road race at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. He joined the French team, Athletic Club Boulogne-Billancourt in Paris, before becoming a professional for Mercier for three seasons. In 1982 he won the British professional road championship.

Herety became team manager of the Percy Bilton team after his racing career. He went on to become director of racing for British Cycling. He resigned following an inquiry into the 2005 UCI Road World Championships in Madrid, when Charly Wegelius and Tom Southam were alleged to have helped Italian riders rather than those in the British team. Personal life

Herety married Margaret (née Swinnerton) in winter 1983. Margaret is a sister to Paul, Catherine and Bernadette, all former internationals.
