This is the first ever complete printed bible in assyrian (syriac) it is written in western syriac dialect and western syriac script (SERTA or SERTO ), in 1816 the british scholar Mr. Samuel Lee (1783-1852) edited the new testament in syriac , in 1823 he edited the old testament and in 1826 the two vollums ( in one ) were published by the"british and foreign bible society". the old testament has 705 pages and the new testament 360 pages (together 1010 pages) with leather cover, it measures 9"3/4 high ,7"1/2 wide and almost 2"1/2 thick and it weights 4 Lbs 13 OZ .The bible is dated (picture # 5) in syriac ,B.SHENT" APCO" MSHIKHETA,Means the year 1826 of christianity and church of England it is praised for publishing of this bible.The condition of the bible is very good for its age there no missing leaf ,some wear on the leather cover, few early leaves are a little loose from the binding ,five of early leaves have a little tear (picture # 9),most of the leaves never being touched.
