- Rebeca Grynspan
Rebeca Grynspan currently serves as Assistant Administrator of theUnited Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Director of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean. She was appointed to the position byUnited Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan in December 2005.Grynspan obtained a Bachelor of Science in economics from the
University of Costa Rica and a Master of Science in economics fromSussex University .Prior to her appointment, she was Director of the Subregional Headquarters in Mexico of the
Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). She was also a member of the UNMillennium Project ’s Task Force on Poverty and Economic Development and of the UN High-Level Panel on Financing for Development.Before joining the UN, she served as Vice-President of Costa Rica from 1994 to 1998 and concurrently as coordinating minister of the Government’s social and economic sectors, housing and human settlements minister.
She was a professor at the University of Costa Rica and researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones de Ciencias Económicas de Costa Rica.
