- Edgar Alfred Holloway
Edgar Alfred Holloway (1870 - 1941) was a noted illustrator of children's books. He was born in
Bradford ,Yorkshire . He became awar artist during theBoer War . He excelled in military uniform portraits and his illustrations have subsequently been reprinted in books on British army uniforms [See e.g. Peter Harrington British Army Uniforms in Colourre] .Holloway contributed illustrations to the
Boy's Own Paper andYoung England magazine and illustrated numerous children's books - mostly adventure books for boys. He emigrated toAustralia in 1930 and illustrated a number of books for the Cornstalk Publishing Company inSydney . He died in theSydney suburb of Burwood, in 1941. [ cite web
