Lisa Saunders is a well-known Canadian broadcaster, journalist and musician. She co-anchored CityNews @ Six and CityNews Tonight from 2003 until 2006. Lisa also spent time prior to that anchoring news updates on CHMI's flagship show, Breakfast Television, where she first appeared in December 2001.
Lisa's career in television dates back to the mid-90s. After graduating from Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Lisa began freelancing for a variety of outfits including YTV News, MuchMusic and the Winnipeg Free Press. After a short stint at CKY-TV in Winnipeg, Lisa moved out to western Canada for the launch of A-Channel Calgary. Her career eventually took her to Toronto, where she worked in the Queen's Park and Toronto bureaus of CHCH. During her career, she has had the privilege of covering such monumental events as the Queen's Park riot, the Walkerton, Ontario water tragedy, and the Manitoba Flood of 1997. Her series of stories surrounding the Winnipeg Harvest Poverty Challenge has also been recognized with a Canadian Association of Broadcasters "Gold Ribbon" award and a Manitoba Motion Picture Industry Association "Blizzard" award.
Lisa currently works as a media relations consultant and writer for Sound Strategy Communications, a company she helped pioneer in 2008. A long-time musician, she also sings and plays keyboards in Canadian pop band, Arbra Hill, which she helped form in 2002. Prior to that, she spent five years playing in Toronto independent rock band, Liviu Tomorrow. She is a member of the Society of Composers, Musicians and Music Publishers and the Manitoba Audio Recording Industry Association.
