Ganmukhuri

Ganmukhuri ( _ka. განმუხური) is village in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, western Georgia. It is situated near the border with Abkhazia (a breakaway region of Georgia) and the city of Zugdidi. In 2006,Fact|date=September 2008 a patriot camp in Ganmukhuri was opened. On August 18, 2008, after the Russian-Georgian War, the village was occupied by Abkhazian separatists and Russian military forces. They burnt the patriot camp in Ganmukhuri. On September 9, 2008, Abkhaz separatists and the Russian miliatary left Ganmukhuri. The village is currently controlled by the Georgian police.
