Kōzuke-Musashi Campaign during theGenkō War in Japan that ultimately ended theKamakura Shogunate . Fought in present dayHigashimurayama at the foot of theHachikokuyama ridge onMay 12 ,1333 , it pitted the anti-shogunate imperial forces led byNitta Yoshisada against the forces of theHojo Shogun. It was an immediate follow on from the previous day's nearby Battle of Kotesashi. The result was a victory for the imperial forces who in less than one week marched 50 kilometers south and finally defeated the Shogun's forces during theSiege of Kamakura .
