- Yngve Slettholm
Yngve Slettholm (born 28 December 1955) is a
composer ,politician , member of theSalvation Army and administrative director ofKopinor . Slettholm took his diploma exams atNorwegian Academy of Music in 1980, and began his composing career incontemporary music . In the period 1982-1986 he has leader of theinterest group Ny Musikk . After this, he travelled to theUSA and studied underMorton Feldman (1986–88) while he worked towards hisdoctorate . Slettholm has won many prizes for his work, as well as many study and work grants. Despite his wide recognition, not everyone likes or understands his brand of contemporary music. To those people, Slettholm said: "It would be terrible if the only thing that would survive from our time would be something that everyone agreed on!" Secretary of State in theNorwegian Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs underPrime Minister Valgerd Svarstad Haugland .As well as his compositions in contemporary music, Slettholm has composed for
choir s andbrass band s in the Salvation Army.Since 2006, Slettholm has been the administrative director of the freedom organisation
