Karina Hollekim

Karina Hollekim (born April 25, 1976) is a Norwegian free skier and BASE jumper. She is the only female athlete who ever completed a ski BASE. She is also the only professional Norwegian BASE jumper. [ [http://www.dld-conference.com/2008/05/karina-hollekim-1.php Only Female to complete Ski BASE] ]

In August 2006 she had a near-fatal crash during a routine parachuting jump, in which her legs were severely injured. Although doctors said she'd never walk again, after multiple surgeries she has recovered sufficiently to have limited mobility.
