trans-Neptunian object that resides in thescattered disc .Discovered
Discovered in
1996 byDavid C. Jewitt et al., it was the first object to be categorized as ascattered disk object (SDO), although mpl|(48639) 1995 TL|8, discovered a year earlier, was later recognised as a scattered disk object. It was one of the largest knownKuiper belt object s at the time of the discovery.Orbit and Size
mp|1996 TL|66 orbits the
Sun with asemi-major axis of 85.33 AU. Its diameter has been estimated at around 630 km by combined optical/thermal observations.cite web
