James Adam Normington (born 5 October 1980) is a barrister working from Chambers in Leeds, West Yorkshire [http://www.parkcourtchambers.co.uk/profiles/James-Normington.asp] . He joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and served for a period of 9 years. He is a graduate of the University of St Andrews, and the Royal Air Force College Cranwell.

He speaks a number of foreign languages including French, German and Arabic.

Early Life

James was born at St James Hospital, Leeds, West Yorkshire on 5 October 1980. He attended Woodlesford Primary School before attending Royds Comprehensive School, Oulton. He then went up to the University of St Andrews where he studied History.Whilst at the University of St Andrews James co-ordinated Sir Clement Freud's election campaign to chair the University court. James practise from Park Court Chambers, Leeds. His practice covers property disputes, commercial, trusts, and housing law. [www.parkcourtchambers.co.uk] .

James has authored a number of articles. Some of the most recent subjects include Chancel Repair Liability, Transatlantic Judgement Enforcement and Trusts of Land.

James is a member of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.

Political Life

He joined the Labour Party at the age of 17, and has been active in politics at both a local and a national level. Most recently James spoke at a lecture with the Minister for the Environment Hilary Benn. In June 2008 James was selected as the Labour candidate for the Parliamentary seat of Sleaford & North Hykeham.

James is a member of the Co-operative Party, committed to the Fair Trade campaign. James is also member of the Fabian Society.

Community Work

James is a trustee of the Mechanics Institute, Rothwell, a charity which provides community facilities for the local community including youth groups and groups for the disabled. James has also been appointed to the board of Governors at Rothwell Victoria Primary School. He previously served as a governor at Carlton Primary and Langdale Primary Schools.
