Yizhar Cohen ( _he. יזהר כהן, born
August 12 ,1962 ) is anIsraeli paralympic swimmer .Cohen was born in
Kibbutz Degania Alef . In1985 he was injured while serving with theIsrael Defence Forces , blinded by amine . Following his loss of eye-sight he began practicingdisabled sports in athletics andswimming . Since1987 he has taken part in international competitions, including sixParalympic Games held between1988 and2008 . Until2004 he also took part in four world championships and eight European championships. 2008 ) he is focusing on freestyle swimming. In the 1987 European Championship, held inMoscow , he won four gold medals. In the1988 Summer Paralympics he won three gold medals and one silver. He won further medals at the1992 Summer Paralympics (1 bronze) and the1996 Summer Paralympics (1 silver). In the2008 Summer Paralympics , Cohen will be the Israeli flag bearer.Cohen works as a
