Autism Anglia

Autism Anglia (Formerly The Essex Autistic Society) is an organization and registered charity that provides services to those affected by autism. In 2008 The Essex Autistic Society took over the Norfolk Autistic Community Housing Association and the Norfolk Autistic Society and changed the name of the new charity to Autism Anglia to better reflect the enlarged area of operation. It's head office is in Colchester, Essex, and has offices in Dereham and Norwich. Autism Anglia provides education, care and support to people with autism from all across the United Kingdom. It also provides Further Education services, Adult Residential and Community Support Homes and Family Support.

Starting in October 2007 Autism Anglia provided an Alert Card Program in Essex and Suffolk. The card provides an easy and discrete way of explaining the holders possibly unusual behaviour. Since the scheme was first launched 400 cards have been issued, 200 applications are being processed and another 1,500 application packs are with schools and health professionals. Since it's introduction the program was extended into Norfolk. The cards are designed to be easily identifiable to emergency services and offer some simple advice, the person’s name and emergency contact details.

Autism Anglia also provides training and support to police and other emergency services to develop a better understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition.
