D2 is a jeans and casualwear retailing company operating in Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland. The company was formed in spring 1999 from a combination of the Fosters Menswear, part of the Jeanster casualwear chain, and Jeans for Sale by Sir Tom Hunter and his investment company West Coast Capital. D2 was the first retail operation developed by Hunter after Sports Division.[1][2]

Hunter sold D2 to management in January 2008, as part of his 'retail portfolio de-clutter'.[2]

D2 currently operates 57 stores throughout Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland.[1]

Administration

On the 30th December 2009 it was announced that the company had entered administration and that BDO International would try and find a buyer. James Stephen, co-administrator at BDO, said: “It is unfortunate that the economic climate and difficult trading conditions have significantly affected the retail sector. We are continuing to trade the business and hope to sell all or part of it as a going concern.”[3]

D2 exited administration in 2010 after a management buyout and trades under the d2 brand still owned by A and J menswear

The stores offer value for money menswear and womenswear as well as children's. Online store is also available with regular discounts
