- Ariobarzanes I of Cius
Ariobarzanes (in Greek Aριoβαρζάνης) is the first known of the line of rulers of the Greek town of
Cius from which were eventually to stem the kings of Pontus in the3rd century BC . He was betrayed by his son Mithridates to his overlord, the Persian king.rf|1|xen1_8.8.4_aris_5.8.15 It is highly probable he is the same who conducted the Athenian ambassadors, in405 BC , to his sea-town of Cius inMysia , after they had been detained three years by order ofCyrus the Younger rf|2|xen2_1.4.7; but it's more dubious if he's the same Ariobarzanes who assistedAntalcidas in388 BC .rf|3|xen2_5.1.28References
