Communist Workers' Group (US)

The Communist Workers' Group was a small Trotskyist group in the United States. It was founded in 1993 by former members of the International Bolshevik Tendency and a group of contacts of that organization known as the "Working Committee". The CWG published the journal "Revolutionary Theory" and the magazine "The Worker", and joined the Bolshevik Current for the Fourth International.

The CWG came to greatest prominence when its candidate for the School Board in Oakland won the endorsement of the local teachers' union and around 40% of the vote.

The group collapsed after a few years existence. It has been claimed that a total of five groups developed out of the CWG, which was only ever a small organization. The best known group to come out of the CWG was the spoof Generic Trotskyist League (40% off).

A couple of members kept the name of the group, while participating in the Peace and Freedom Party.
