History

S/Y "Argo" was completed in June 2006 in Samut Prakan, Thailand at Marsun Shipyards. Her design is the product of the close collaboration between Langan Design Associates of Newport, Rhode Island and Seamester Global Programs. She was inspired by the design of the schooner "Black Douglas", also known as "Te Quest" and "Aquarius W". The motivation and backing for the construction of "Argo" came from the success experienced by her sister ship, " Ocean Star".

"Argo" is a two-masted staysail schooner that measures convert|112|ft|m overall and accommodates twenty six students and seven professional crew on ocean voyages. Sailing under the Seamester flag, "Argo" circumnavigates on 90-day college semester-based programs and shorter 21-day and 60-day programs during the northern hemisphere summer.

"Argo" will complete her first circumnavigation back to Thailand in December of 2008.
