Background

Francesca was born in Wolverhampton, England to parents, Mel and Steve Jackson on the 6th December 1983. She later moved to Ystalyvera, Swansea where she grew up and where her parents still live today. She joined the National Youth Music Theatre in 1991, and starred in many productions such as Whistle Down the Wind and Bugsy Malone. Francesca now resides in London. She believes in Cosmic ordering.

Career

Although, receiving many acting and singing jobs since the age of 10, Francesca's first big break was playing Bet at the age of 14 in the Sam Mendes production of Oliver! at the London Palladium alongside Robert Lindsay and Sonia Swabey. In recent years Francesca's most notable role was starring as Joanne in Rent remixed alongside Denise van Outen and she has also played the leading role of Alice in the workshop production of 'All the Fun of the Fair', directed by Nikolai Foster. She also appeared in the 2006 production of 'Tonight's the night' as an understudy for Rachel Tucker (future I'd Do Anything contestant). Later, Francesca auditioned for Reality TV show I'd Do Anything attempting to win the part of Nancy. She was put through and eliminated fourth on the live show.

I'd Do Anything

When Francesca first auditioned for I'd Do Anything there were many speculations about Francesca being friends with panel member Denise van Outen and many newspapers alleged that she was put through on merit.

On the first live show, on 29 March, she sang the song Hero originally by Mariah Carey. Panel member John Barrowman pointed out to Francesca that she had some pitching problems on her top notes since she had previously come down with The Flu during auditions. Francesca received the least votes from the public and was put in the first live Sing-off, alongside fellow contestant, Amy Booth-Steel and the two sang the song Tell Me On A Sunday from the musical of the same name. Francesca was saved by Andrew Lloyd Weber and was therefore put through to the next live show.

In the second show, on 5 April, Francesca sang Somebody to Love from the musical We Will Rock You and received positive feedback from the Judges and survived the second live Sing-off.

In the third show, on 12 April, she performed the song (I've had) the Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing and received more feedback about her pitching problems from Andrew Lloyd-Weber, however she survived the public vote again and was put through to the next live show.

For the fourth show on 19 April Francesca was given the song What's Love Got to Do with It? by Tina Turner. She received rather positive feedback from the panel. However, she and fellow contestant, Ashley Russell received the least votes from the public and where therefore both put in the Sing-off where they sang the song Whistle Down the Wind in attempt to impress Lloyd-Weber. Lloyd Weber saved Ashley, therefore eliminating Francesca from the competition.

After I'd Do Anything

Since I'd Do Anything, Francesca has received a lot of offers for acting work and has recently been cast alongside Chesney Hawkes and "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" finalist Siobhan Dillon as 'Lucy' in a new Barry Manilow based musical named 'Can't Smile Without You.'
