- Strv m/42
Stridsvagn m/42 (Strv m/42) was the first Swedish tank to have a 75mm gun. It was known as Lago by Landsverk AB. They first entered service wit the Swedish army in November 1941 and was designated the Stridsvagn m/42. It was a fully modern tank for its time. It was armed with a 75mm L/34 gun. It was also well protected and mobile.
In January 1942 another 60 Strv m/42s where ordered. Some of this batch where build under license by Volvo, and 55 of them fitted with the Scania engine. The remaining 5 where equiped with a new Volvo engine. In June 1942 another 80 where ordered from Landsverk. In April 1943 another 282 where ordered Volvo.
They where phased out of active service in the 1950s and replaced by the
Stridsvagn 81 . 235 of them where rebuilt to theStridsvagn 74 and the type Eh vehicles where transfered to Infantry-gun Vehicles as IKv 73s.References
