Sembawang ,Singapore . The school was established in 1999 and was temporarily housed at Woodlands Ring Secondary School for nine months before moving to its current location at 30 Sembawang Crescent.History
Before 1999, to meet the schooling needs of an expanding housing estate of Sembawang, it was deemed necessary to build a new learning institution. The result was Sembawang Secondary School, built on 3.04 hectares of land at the bend of Sembawang Crescent in the midst of new HDB flats and amenities. At the start, the school had to endure its first nine months without the benefits of a full secondary school facilities. Housed temporarily at Woodlands Ring Secondary School while the construction of the new premises was underway, the pioneering batch of eight Secondary 1 classes and seventeen teachers led by the school's first principal, Mrs Tang-Chan Yueh Tarn, strived to make a mark.
In January 2000, the school played house to
Canberra Secondary School for a period of six months before the latter moved on to their new premises just around the corner, at 51 Sembawang Road.Throughout the years, Sembawang Secondary School has carved a niche of excellence in the visual arts. Students from their first year in the school automatically gain membership into the Artists' Elite Club.
