Bathgate Academy

Bathgate Academy

Bathgate Academy is a secondary school in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland. Approximately 1000 students are taught from ages 12-18, serving the needs of several communities including Blackburn.

Established by John Newlands in the mid-18th-century, to provide an education for the "Bathgate bairns", the school was originally located on Marjoribanks Street. This building was taken over by West Lothian College in the 1960s, when the school moved to its current location. The school has recently undergone a major refurbishment, with the addition of a new games hall and astroturf sports pitch. Educational courses offered include Standard Grades, Intermediate 1 and 2, Highers and Advanced Highers.
