Asankodai

Asankodai is a village with around 30 families. It comes under Perumpallam Panchayat, Kodaikkanl taluk, Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu, India.

Asankodai village is without road facilities and is surrounded by Thandikudi by north, Pachalur by south KC Patty by east and Perumpallam by west. It was founded by Thiru Ramaswamy manadiar in 1900. This place was a dense forest which he converted as a cultivation land. Later they planted coffee, banana, orange and lemon.

The peoples in this village are really struggling for transportation. For getting hospitalization they need to walk around 7 miles and it takes nearly one and half hours. Here in this village they have the current facilities and even telephone facilities are available.

The attractive thing in this village is a Siva temple (Kathuvumalai Nathan Temple) on a hill. It is necessary to walk to reach the temple. Every year, on April 14th (Tamil new year), there is be a celebration in the temple.

Agriculture:

The main cultivation which is done here is Coffee plantations. Other than this they are cultivating orange,Lemon.Banana,Jack fruit,Butter fruit etc..

Attractions:

Its quite greenish area located at an elevation of 1700 mts above the sea level. A cool place to spend your vacation.One more entertainment is Trekking and thats the only way to reach. As i said there is no transport facilities to this village. People here are very kind and helping in nature.There are two main temples that you need to visit here.

1. Sivan temple (Katuvumalai nathan)2. Kali temple.

The more advantage is there is no traffic, No vehicle sounds, No phone calls .You can enjoy the nature with mild breeze sounds mixed with bird songs.

Education:-

A primary school up to 5th standard is there with a single teacher for 30 students.Students from here Have to move to the nearby village to continue their higher studies.

Tamilnadu Government has to take steps to improve this type of villages.Really it shows the developing nature of the country. Ministers/Government officers are developing the the area which is already developed.Here people are struggling for the basic necessities. So we the peoples from Asankodai request the government to have an eye on us to get developed.
