Next single = "'Quirks" (1977)Young Savage is the second single of the experimental
New Wave band Ultravox!. It was released onMay 28 1977 , during a time of sound experiments for define the band. The A-Side contains the song "Young Savage", a song made in a
punk style, although the band denied it was a punk song (in which Billy Currie played keyboards in a like-psychedelic style). One of the favourite songs of the John Foxx-era, it's their first known song held a different direction in comparision with their first album "Ultravox! ", which had more glam songs. Although the song was released during that first Ultravox! album period, sounds closer to their next album "Ha! Ha! Ha! ", which also have like-punk songs; probably for this reason, the 2006 reissue edition of the latter album contains it as bonus track. It also was improbably named as record of the week on Mark & Lard's Radio 1 show in 2002.The B-Side of "Young Savage" is a live version of "Slip Away". It was recorded during a gig at The Rainbow in 1977.
Both songs were performed on tours since their existence until the last tour with John Foxx as lead singer in 1979. It's suggested the line-up with
Midge Ure as singer played "Young Savage" during 1979/80 gigs. The cover artwork of the album is another "punk" thing in the front sleeve of the single.
