Brugia timori is a human
filarial parasite fromIndonesia . Brugia timori is found in theLesser Sunda Islands of theIndonesian Archipelago , such asTimor . LikeBrugia malayi it is locally confined to areas endemic to itsmosquito vector. The life cycle of brugia timori is almost identical to that ofWuchereria bancrofti and brugia malayi. It is nocturnally periodic and is transmitted by the mosquitoAnopheles barbirostris which breeds inrice fields . The microfilariae have several distinguishing features: they are longer with acephalic space length to width of about 3:1. In addition the sheath does not stain pink with Giemsa stain like brugia malayi and wucheria bancrofti. The adults also differ morphologically from brugia malayi.ee also
